This seemed an apropo article for the Geezer crowd.  Lets face it, many of us feel that some form of preemptive pain killing might be useful, especially if we are pushing our bodies hard. According to the article, up to 70% of distance runners and endurance athletes think this is a good idea.

Turns out, that isn’t so.

But a valuable new study joins growing evidence that ibuprofen and similar anti-inflammatory painkillers taken before a workout do not offer any benefit and may be causing disagreeable physical damage instead, particularly to the intestines.

Well that is unpleasant.  So a long standing tradition of mine is about to bite the dust.
