This organization has some bona fides.

The Sierra Club

Founded in 1892 by John Muir himself. The John Muir. Bad ass.

Now the largest and, by their reckoning, most influential grassroots environmental organization. With over 2 million members and some great name recognition. They also have impressive resources and lobbying experience. They are one of the most experienced, successful, and influential organizations to help in the fight to keep our public lands public.

They also help with clear air, clear water, clean energy, local and national advocacy, they help people get out on trips

What the Sierra Club offers:

Adventures With a Cause

Part of the largest grassroots environmental organization in the country, Sierra Club Outings provides environmentally friendly outdoor adventures—from Tahoe to Tibet—for people of all ages, abilities, and interests. Whether you’re seeking lodge-based explorations or supported treks, backpack journeys leisurely to strenuous, or vacations near home or in far-flung destinations, you can be sure to find a trip that feels like it was designed for you.

Our Wild America carries on the Sierra Club’s long legacy of protecting America’s beautiful wildlands. We believe that America’s public lands are held in “public trust” for and by all Americans, providing opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors, and come together to share experiences.

With the Our Wild America campaign, the Sierra Club is doubling down in the fight to preserve our wild heritage in the face of threats from mining, drilling, and climate disruption.
